Welcome Blair Horse Trials Volunteers.

We are happy to announce that the Volunteer applications for 2023 are now live!

As everyone knows, the sport of eventing cannot exist without volunteers. Volunteers show up rain or shine, with smiles and graciously give their free time to make sure everyone has a fun and safe day of sport. So this will be the first time, but most certainly not the last, that we say THANKYOU!

Our 2023 competition (24th – 27th August) will include The Scottish Grassroots Festival Championships, BE90/BE100, CCI1*, CCI2*-S, CCI3*-S, CCI4*-S &CCI4*-L.  In addition, we will have all the non-eventing classes we’ve had in previous years including British Show Jumping, Hunters, HOYS qualifiers, Highland Pony Show, NPS Scotland, Sunday Showing and Pony Club Games. We have a renowned shopping village, a food hall, top catering & food offerings and so much more!

The event timetable is still being finalized, but we are expecting to run 3 days of cross country on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday this year. For the most part, volunteer shifts will be full day shifts again, ranging in times from 7-8amthrough to 5-6pm. If there are rings or shifts which will not run all day we will do our best to update the timing for that specific shift nearer the event.  If you’re not able to volunteer for a full day we do have a limited number of part day roles.

We will need volunteers for everything from course decoration & course building(especially for the changeovers from dressage to show jumping), arena parties, crossing points, collecting rings, programme sellers, social media & many more! If you are handy with a trailer, please let us know as the course-change shifts are extremely important.

Please sign up to the role on the day(s) you are interested in helping with and we will do our best to assign you to that position based on based on experience and availability as indicated in the questionnaire you will complete. Not all roles require equestrian experience, but all roles are important, needed and much appreciated! It is our goal to get returning people into returning roles year over year to start building teams in areas for success and continuity(such as crossing stewards and arena parties.)

In return for all your hard work volunteers will receive lunch, snacks & refreshments on the days they are working and season entry to the full event. If you are going to be doing multiple shifts during the horse trials we will also offer:

•  Three or more full shifts – free duration camping, Joules T-shirt (any 3 full between Thursday-Sunday)

•  Two full shifts including Saturday and/or Sunday – free duration camping and Joules T-shirt.

•  Two full shifts Thursday/Friday - 50% duration camping pitch, Joules Horse Trials branded Merchandise

•  Any one full dayshift - free Season entry to the event

Please note: if you are a XC jump judge or working with a Convener they will be in touch, and you are not required to sign up on the system unless you will be doing other volunteer role(s) on other days. They will be sending us a list with your emails in order to get your e-tickets and camping passes issued.

We have a FAQ page on the volunteer system which we will be updating regularly which can be found in the documents section, but if there is something that you can’t see on there please drop an email via the Volunteer system and one of the team will be in touch.

We can’t wait to see everyone Back at Blair in August.  THANK YOU for volunteering!
