Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials

25-28 August, 2022

UPDATED AS OF 19 AUGUST: We are still accepting volunteers! However, now that we have sent out everyone's e-tickets for camping and admission, any NEW volunteers are asked to reach out DIRECTLY TO US by email at [email protected] (or through the yellow contact us envelope on the front page of your dashboard.) This is the only way we will be able to guarantee we will get your admission passes, camping and parking to you moving forward. Thank you!

As everyone knows, the sport of eventing cannot exist without volunteers. Volunteers show up rain or shine, with smiles on, and graciously give their free time to make sure everyone has a fun and safe day of sport. So this will be the first time, but most certainly not the last, that we say thank you.

If you reached this page via a private sign up link, make sure you have created and confirmed your account/profile and then click the private link again to log in and see the hidden shifts. Choose the "Event Day" to see the shifts that are available and sign up.

If you are volunteering for the first time, or coming to this from our general call for volunteers, please create your profile and then sign up to the “General Signup” on the day(s) you are interested in helping with.  This does not guarantee a position but it does help make us aware that you are interested in a position. If you only create/confirm your account without signing up for any days/shifts, (at LEAST the general signup on the day(s) you want) we will have no idea that you are out there.

For the most part, volunteer shifts will be full day shifts ranging in times from 7-8am through to 5-6pm. If there are rings or shifts which will not run all day we will do our best to update the timing for that specific shift. If you’re not able to volunteer for a full day please sign up to general help and let us know in your comments. We will do our best to accommodate your timing needs.

Our 2022 competition (25-28 August) will see an incredible seven levels of recognized eventing: The Scottish Grassroots Festival Championships BE90/BE100, CCI1*, CCI2*-S, CCI3*-S, CCI4*-S & CCI4*-L. In addition, we will have all the non-eventing classes we’ve had in previous years including British Showjumping, Hunters, HOYS qualifiers, Highland Pony Show, NPS Scotland, Sunday Showing and Pony Club Games. We have a renowned shopping village, a food hall, top catering & food offerings and so much more!

We are planning for three full days of cross-country (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). We’re in the process of adjusting the site plan slightly but no matter what, we will need volunteers for everything from course decoration & course building (especially for the changeovers from dressage to show jumping), arena parties, crossing points, collecting rings, programme sellers, social media & many more! Please sign up for the day(s) you are available and we will assign positions based on past experience and availability as indicated in the questionnaire you will complete. Not all roles require equestrian experience, but all roles are important, needed and much appreciated!

Our volunteers receive lunch, snacks & refreshments, Joules T-shirts or hats (based on availability & number of shifts worked), MUCH appreciation, entries into draws for volunteer prizes and the opportunity to be part of Scotland’s biggest & best event!!

Please note: if you are a returning XC Fence Judge and have already been in touch with Jane and Katy Cepok, you are not required to use this VIP system this year. Jane will be sending us a list with your emails in order to get your e-tickets and camping passes.

Event Prep: Painting & decorating the courses will happen in the weeks before the event. If you’re local and can come help for part or all of any day(s), it’s an amazing way to watch the event really come together. Same with setup of dressage arenas, stadium courses, etc. on Tuesday and Wednesday 23/24 August and tear down Monday the 29th.

THANK YOU!! We can’t say THANK YOU enough for your good humour and amazing hard work.

Please remember to sign up, check emails for updates, CONFIRM ahead of the event when prompted (in your email by clicking on confirm) and keep an eye on social media as well for updates as we go along. Don’t forget to pack water & snacks, dress for the weather, bring a chair, a hat, maybe sun cream… and we can’t wait to see you all #BackAtBlair in a few weeks!

Here’s how to get started with the GB Eventing Volunteers system:

• Create & confirm your Volunteer Profile before you do anything else. The EASIEST way to do this is with a laptop or desktop computer, we do not recommend using your phone for this part.

• Determine the day(s) you want to work. Days are listed above under the blue EVENTS DAYS tab. Click on the specific day to see the positions/shifts available for that day. NEW for 2022: Unless noted, consider each shift a full day shift not a half-day shift. ** IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY YOU NEED TO SIGN UP FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL DAY. Please do not just put it in your notes that you're free to work other days. **

• Select the sign up button next to the shift you want to work (please only sign up for 1 full day or 2 half-day positions PER DAY) If there is no button it means all slots for that position for that day have been filled. Most positions have not been made public (you will either receive a private sign up link directly or will be assigned based on the information you give us around previous experience. The questionnaire you submit upon your first shift sign up will give you room to be VERY clear about what/where you "usually" do so please make it easy for us and tell us exactly what/where if at all possible!)

• Any other special needs/requests - please use the comments field and we will do our best to accommodate.

We prefer to have full day volunteers where noted and will prioritise volunteers who are able to work multiple full days. However if you are only able to work a partial day, please add a comment on the sign up or contact us directly to see what accommodations can be made. Due to the timing of the particular ring / area / activity some roles may run longer and some may run shorter.

A note regarding communications from us through this email system: some email providers will block all links by default. In most cases, you can enable links and necessary buttons/content by "whitelisting" and adding the following email address to your contact book / email address book: [email protected]  Another workaround is to go to your volunteer dashboard to complete the required actions.

Thank you very much and we look forward to welcoming you back to Blair!!
